Second pic of South Quay pedestrian bridge that connects South Quay to Heron Quays. Taken with IXUS 310HS and then converted into a simple monochrome in Snapseed.
This blog discusses tips and techniques for photographing using iPhone and its scores of editing apps.

South Quay Footbridge
If you have been on the DLR, you will notice that the stations are just minutes apart, and I used to often wonder why have they unnecessarily built so many. By lengthening the distance between stations they could have made the journey time quicker. But then, one day my friend enlightened me. It is the layout of the terrain that has forced the stations to be so close by. All the numerous small quays and wharfs in Docklands are separated by water and are connected by bridges or tunnels. if you were to cross from one to the other by foot, it takes a considerable amount of time. The railway stations are built at each intersection of two quays or wharfs to make it easier to board from any quay. That's the reason why there are so many of them separated by minimal distance.
I took this picture on Saturday while crossing from South Quay to Heron Quays on foot. This footbridge is 180m long and was completed in 1997 by the architect company, Wilkinson Eyre. It is a S shaped bridge with half of it being fixed and the other half opens up for shipping purposes.

Pane in Rain
Rain drops from the clouds and onto trees,
Down the tree trunks and off the leaves.
Down a mountain, into a brook,
Past a chipmunk in a nook.
Into a pond, off a log.
On top of a turtle and onto a frog.
Onto roads, onto the grass,
Onto trains and trucks that pass.
On top of bridges, cars and boats.
Even onto people’s coats.
Onto houses and my windowpane.
I just love to watch the drops,
The drips and drops of rain.

Unlike Irene, we had some small rains last Friday, and I captured these two pics at our office window. First picture was taken with an iPhone; edited for selective coloring in Fotolr (CSplash Pro still remains my favourite) and Tilt-Shift filter added in FX Photo Studio. Second picture was taken with IXUS 310Hs and is largely unedited except for adding a bit of saturation in PS.

New photography apps review site
I found a very good apps review site for photography today: Appotography. The reviews on this site are quite in-depth and of a great quality.
I have now added it to my daily visit sites, including iosphotoapps, iphoneography and photographyblog.

What are the best iPhone apps for Photography
Below is the list of all my favourite apps for capturing or editing images/videos on my iPhone:
Image Capture
1) Camera+
Good for capturing images in various modes like flash on/off/auto, self timer, image stabilization, hdr. This app also has some basic image editing features like crop, brightness, contrast. Best part is the very useful basic filters - darken, backlit, scenery, flash, cloudy, shade, food, text.
2) Camera Plus
Can capture both images and videos. Has many of the Camera+ features, but I find Camera+ much more user friendly and easy to use.
3) Photosynth
Good app to easily take 360 degree panoramas. However, post processing, I don't find photos stitching together smoothly; there are some parts going up or down in relation to others. I would rather recommend using Autostitch for good panoramas.
4) DerManDar
I have read some good reviews on DerManDar for capturing panoramic photographs. However, I am yet to test this app.
Image Editing
1) Snapseed
2) Iris
3) Picture Show
4) Photoshop Express
4) CSplash Pro: for selective coloring
5) Fotovado: for adding callouts
6) Sketch Me!
7) Bleach Bypass
8) iQuikDOF
9) Camera 360
10) Dynamic Light
11) FX Photo Studio
12) Pic FX
13) Noir Photo App
14) Monochromia
15) Cameramatic
Filters
FX Photo Studio: around 200 filters

Tinted lilies
Took with my iPhone this morning and dedicated it to my two sisters on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. I used the CSplash Color Pro app for the selective coloring of the two lilies and then added a radial blur effect using the FX Photo Studio app.
Did you know?
Many varieties of lily are extremely toxic to cats, causing acute renal failure even in small amounts. This is particularly true in the case of Easter lily plants, though other Lilium and the related Hemerocallis can also cause the same symptoms.

Rain painting London city Red...
I took this photo with my iPhone one rainy Tuesday morning this week while going to Santander at Ludgate. The scene was already in my mind before I even took the picture - the only thing that didn't go as per plan was a fractional delay in clicking because of which I could not get the lady with umbrella a bit closer in the frame (you see her walking by the phone booth).
I edited this picture in FX Photo Studio (Color Stroke + Vignetting + Texture).
